1. The Independent National Electoral Commission has so far uploaded 159,509 results from 176, 846 polling units, seven days after the presidential poll. The figure represents 90 per cent of results from all the polling units. The electronic transmission of results was still ongoing. Nigerians expected that the election results would be uploaded on election day as promised by the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu.

2. Former Kaduna North Senator, Suleiman Hunkuyi has said parties may unite against the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the governorship election. The standard bearer of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, addressed reporters on Friday in Kaduna. 3. Soldiers attached to troops of Sector Four of Operation Whirl Punch and Special Forces of the 167 Battalion have killed one bandit after engaging in a fierce battle with outlaws in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aurwan was however silent on when the incident took place. The Commissioner also said that the gallant troops rescued 14 kidnapped victims, comprising nine men and five women and destroyed the bandits’ hideouts.

Sports Minister Sunday Dare has Congratulated Nigeria’s Under 20 men’s team, Flying Eagles for securing a ticket to the FIFA Under 20 World Cup later this year and also reaching the semifinals of the ongoing Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt. The young Eagles edged out Uganda 1-0 on Thursday night to qualify for the semifinals of the AFCON and also sealed qualification to the FIFA U20 World Cup taking place in Indonesia in May. .

5. A provincial governor in the central Philippines and five other people have been shot dead by unknown gunmen on Saturday in the latest attack against local officials. Local police said six suspects carrying rifles and dressed in uniforms similar to those worn by the armed services entered the governor’s home in Pamplona town and opened fire. Roel Degamo, governor of Negros Oriental province, and five others were killed in the shooting . CHANNELS

7. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has congratulated the Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory in last Saturday’s presidential election. The Ukrainian president took to Twitter to send compliments on Thursday, a day after Tinubu was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). “Congratulations to @officialABAT on winning the Nigerian presidential election.
