1. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has confirmed the evacuation of banknotes from its vaults to commercial banks across the country as part of a coordinated effort to ease the circulation of banknotes of various denominations. The CBN has also directed all commercial banks to open for operation on Saturdays and Sundays. The Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department of the CBN, Dr. Isa AbdulMumin, disclosed this in Abuja on Friday, stating that a substantial amount of money, in various denominations, had been received by the commercial banks for onward circulation to their respective customers. 2. The Presidential Election Petition Court sitting in Abuja, on Friday, ordered the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, to serve the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, with copies of petitions seeking to nullify his election through substituted means. The court specifically ordered that the petitions should be served on Tinubu, through his political party, the All Progressives Congress. The ruling by a three-man panel of the court, led by Justice Joseph Ikyegh, followed separate motions  ex-parte filed by Abubakar and Obi before the court. PUNCH

3. The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, on Friday, reiterated his commitment to work assiduously with all stakeholders towards eradicating tuberculosis in Nigeria. Ehanire disclosed this while lamenting that there is a high burden of tuberculosis in Nigeria, adding that there is a significant gap in some critical aspects of Nigeria’s national response to the bacteria. He spoke at a ministerial press briefing in commemoration of the 2023 World Tuberculosis Day in Abuja. DAILY POST

4. Canadian music star The Weeknd has been officially declared the most popular artist in the world by record-keeping organisation The Guinness Book of Records. In an announcement on March 20 2023 by Guinness World Record, Abel Makkonen Tesfaye popularly known as The Weeknd is the most popular artist in the world with the organisation stating that “No one else comes close”. The Weeknd became the first artist to surpass over 100 million monthly listeners (112 million as of March 24, 2023) on Spotify a record he exclusively holds with Miley Cyrus coming distant second at 83 million monthly listeners. 5. The Federal Government says the proposed national carrier, Nigeria Air is to commence full operations before the end of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika made the revelation at an aviation stakeholder’s forum in Abuja on Thursday. Responding to a question on when exactly Nigeria Air will commence operations, the minister said, “Before the end of this administration, before May 29th, we will fly.” CHANNELS

6. Lionel Messi has reached a new milestone, scoring his 800th career goal off a free kick against Panama. The World Champions, Argentina, were in action for the first time since their triumph in Qatar 2022 in the early hours of Friday against Panama. Coach Lionel Scaloni put out the same line-up that started against France in the FIFA World Cup final, and captain Lionel Messi was on target again to reach a new career landmark. After a drab first half, the Argentine broke the deadlock in the 78th minute when Leandro Paredes found Thiago Almeida who tucked in the ball neatly. VANGUARD

7. The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned the former Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja over alleged N5 billion fraud. Prof. Ojerinde was JAMB registrar between 2012 and 2016. He was arraigned on Friday on seven-count charge bordering on money laundering. The former NECO registrar and his companies, Doyin Ogbohi Petroleum Limited, Cheng Marbles Limited, Sapati International Schools Limited, Trillium Learnings Centre Limited, and Standout Institutes Limited are facing a money laundering charge to the tune of N5 billion before Justice Obiora Egwuatu. 8. Transgender women will no longer be allowed to compete in female track and field events regardless of their levels of testosterone, World Athletics president Sebastian Coe said Thursday. Speaking after a meeting of the global track and field federation’s decision-making body, Coe sad: “The Council has agreed to exclude male or female transgender athletes who have been through male puberty from female world ranking competitions from March the 31st this year.” Coe said World Athletics had consulted with stakeholders including the International Olympic Committee and national federations about the issue of transgender athletes. 9. Popular Nigerian comedian, Samuel Animashaun Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, has revealed the amount of money he makes in a month creating content. The Instagram comedian revealed the interesting number in a conversation with Ehiz on his Dada Boy show, where he said he makes over N20 million ($40K) in a month from skits. Ehiz asked in parts, “In six months, how much do you make off YouTube in dollars? Let’s say you make $40,000 per month, is that higher or lower?$80,000, higher or lower?” Shaggi responded by stating that he earns more than ₦‎20,000,000 ($40K) but less than ₦‎40,000,000 ($80K) per month. 1O. France forward, Kylian Mbappe has opened up on teammate Antoine Griezmann’s captaincy snub and also revealed what he told the 32-year-old. France’s head coach, Didier Deschamps, recently overlooked Griezmann and named Mbappe as the new captain of the Les Blues. Following the retirement of Hugo Lloris, Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane from international duty, Griezmann was the obvious candidate to become the new skipper of France due to his experience as the most cap-tie player in Deschamps’ side.
