NOUN-ACETEL SET TO HOLD FREE SEMINAR ON SOME TRENDING ICT-RELATED PROGRAMMES

National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) through its Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced learning (ACETEL) is organizing a free virtual sensitization seminar on three of its proposed post graduate programmes.

The programmes are: Management Information system (MIS), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber security according to ACETEL Centre Director Prof. Grace Jokthan.

Jokthan added that the seminar primarily will focus on these new but trending ICT programmes ACETEL intend to offer at postgraduate level (Masters and Ph.D.) as such it is imperative to conscientice the public and would be interested candidates on what these programmes and its prospects on the future of Africa development holds .

The seminar, which will be virtually carried out Jokthan stressed will be free to all interested participants on zoom cloud meeting.

“The Artificial Intelligence session will explore the theory and wide raging issues on AI and how they enhance traditional computational process. It will also query, can machine think and learn? What role can AI play in Africa’s development?

“Participants will also be exposed to the roles of Cyber security practitioners, weakest link in Cyber security and knowledge of defenders, key elements in Cyber security and why it is important for everyone to stay safe”.

Prof Jokthan added that participants will also take home “The current trends in MIS and the innovative approaches for survival in a competitive business world, Information management for effective digital transformation among others”.

World class academics in the field sourced from reputable Nigeria universities will be on ground as “Touch bearers” to guide in the various interactive sessions according to ACETEL Centre Director.

The seminar on Artificial Intelligence will run on 23rd June 2020 with the first session starting at 10:30am – 12:30pm (10:00am – 12:00noon West Central Africa Time). The second session will start at 12:30 to end 2:00pm (12:00noon – 1:30pm West Central Africa Time).
