The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding the nation’s critical infrastructure during a recent working visit to the Rivers State Command. This visit was part of an ongoing effort to motivate NSCDC personnel in their mandate to protect essential assets, tackle crude oil theft, manage disasters, oversee private security licensing, and fulfill other responsibilities entrusted to the Corps.
Dr. Audi commended the Rivers State Command for its accomplishments, emphasizing that the public’s trust in the NSCDC demands unwavering diligence and effectiveness in their duties. “Rivers State Command is clearly performing well, but much is expected from those given much. Officers and men must renew their commitment to upholding the Corps’ statutory mandate while promoting the good image of this organization,” he stated.
Highlighting the progress made under his three-year tenure, Dr. Audi outlined the introduction of Career Progression Development Courses and rigorous training programs designed to enhance professionalism. He also addressed personnel morale, noting that the recent promotion of over 9,000 officers nationwide was a major achievement aimed at clearing longstanding promotion backlogs. “I am happy to see the excitement and jubilation from the recent promotions, as this administration remains focused on supporting your welfare and career development,” Dr. Audi added.
In a show of gratitude, Dr. Audi thanked the Rivers State Government for donating ten operational vehicles to the NSCDC. He formally commissioned the vehicles, acknowledging their role in boosting operational capacity.
Dr. Audi also addressed recent salary delays experienced by some personnel, assuring them that the issue stemmed from a computer system error, which has now been corrected. He confirmed that all outstanding payments would be resolved in subsequent payroll cycles.
