NUJ Kad Chairman inaugurates New elected executives, Nagarta Radio

…declares members welfare foremost priority

The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalist, Kaduna State Council, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, has charged the newly elected executives of Nagarta Radio Chapel that challenges of the welfare of its members should be their foremost priority in the discharge of their duties.

He gave the charge in his speech shortly after the official inauguration of the new executives at Nagarta Radio News and Current Affairs Department, Katabu, Maraban Jos, Zaria Expressway, Kaduna on the 14th of September, 2018 which was administered by a Legal Practitioner, Barrister Joshua Babajide of Esq Chris Nnoli and Associates.

Comrade Yusuf who congratulated the incoming executives commended the effort, support and co-operation of the outgoing executives for ensuring the unity, success and development of Kaduna Council of NUJ.

The Council Chairman announced to the Nagarta members of the ongoing biometric registration of every journalists in the country and urged them to ensure they were captured in the exercise, pointing out that it is importance because it designed to record all journalists across the country which would be published after conclusion.

According to him, other states have concluded theirs and Kaduna Council would not be left out especially its members. “I want to constitutionally and officially inaugurate the new elected executives members of Nagarta Radio in the Name of God with the Power best stored on Him as the Council Chairman and wise you all the  best.

“I want to commend the support and co-operation of the members of Nagarta Radio especially the pass executives to ensure the unity, success and development of the NUJ Council.

“I want to remind the new Chairman that there is a lot f challenges to focus on which one of the is the welfare of the members should be her priority.

“The Union has taken another dimension because the 1st elected Female Chairman in Kaduna State is from Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) Chapel, Hajiya Ferida Abubakakr and now we are having another female Chairman in the Lady of Joy Odor of Nagarta Chapel.

“I want to put it to you that our administration is gender sensitive and l assured the Council support to your success during your tenure.

“Lastly, I want to announced to our members that we have what is called Executive Council meeting every month and sometimes, we do call for emergency meeting. So the duty of the chairman of a chapel is sacrifices. You sacrifices your time, your scheduled and everything to represent the chapel in the state level positively.

“Thank God the chairman of Nagarta Radio is the one from the chapel that has registers with the NUJ biometric exercise and l want to called on Nagarta members to please register with the new NUJ biometric exercise. Because, it is important and it have a record where all the journalists in the country are captured and would be publish after conclusion.

In her acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman of Nagarta Radio, Miss Emelda Joy Odor promised to defend the welfare of her chapel and its well-being and called for unity, togetherness, support and co-operation of the members to achieve success and development of the chapel.

She promised to bring back all NUJ chapel members that have joined RATTAWO due to lack of sense of belonging for the chapel vibrancy.

While contributing, the General Manger of Nagarta Radio, Alhaji Abdulmalik Ande who was represented by the Manager, Programme, Mallam Yahaya Kassimu congratulated the new executives and urged them to work in unionism and co-operate among themselves stressing that  it is only by doing so that the members will forester, unity, love and bring development to the chapel, the Station, the State Council and the National body of NUJ.

The newly elected members of Nagarta Radio are Emelda Joy Odor-Chairman, Zikefilu Abdullahi-Secretary, Usman Yau Yakasi-Financial Secretary, Ibrahim Alhassan-Treasurer and Isa Mohammed Lawal- Auditor among others.
