NURTW vanguard of transforming nation’s transport sector – gov Aliyu Sokoto

Sokoto state governor , Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has urged the NURTW to continued to be at the vanguard of transforming the transport sub sector of the nation’s economy.NURTW vanguard of transforming nation's transport sector - gov Aliyu Sokoto

Aliyu Sokoto stated on Thursday while declaring open the state chapter delegate conference at the International Conference Centre, Kasarawa, Sokoto.

The governor who also noted the resilience and spirit of the union at strengthening the sector as agent of transformation in providing transport service to citizens also explained that the state government was on same page in addressing transportation demands of citizens in the state.

The governor , represented by his deputy, Muhammad Idris Danchadi said the intervention of his government was to ease the challenges in the sector by providing adequate and modern buses for both intrar and inter state services.

” It is in line with our 9-point smart agenda to improve the welfare and well being of Sokoto people”, he stressed.

” We will continue to be supportive to NURTW towards making transportation in the state better for Sokoto people”, he assured as he called on the union leadership discipline and obedience to traffick laws as well ensure just, fair and reasonable treatment of its members.

Earlier in his remarks the National President of the union, Alhaji Aliyu Isah Ore urged the leadership of the union in the state to be responsive and discipline by proving it’s capacity through good leadership that would last the test of time for others to emulate.

According to Ore who was represented by Comrade Idris Zakari Yakasai said NURTW was a driving organ for improved transportation services in the county, adding that ” our union has been a resilient contributor to the development of Nigeria’s transportation services .

” I therefore, call on the state leadership to sustain the tempo by driving and turning the fortunes of the union by carrying every member along.

” Please, run a leadership that is devoid of victimisation . Be just and fair to all through open door policy”, the National President appealed.

I their separate goodwill messages, representatives of FRSC, Police, VIO among others, reminded the union of the need to respect and obey traffick laws inorder to avoid accidents.

” Overloading and disrespect to check points must be discouraged for the safety and security of lives and property especially on high ways”, they pointed.

However, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko represented by the HoS, Alhaji Suleiman Sarkin Fulani Ahmadu was among dignitaries that graced the occasion which produced Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim Dan Takatuku as the Chairman among 14 other executives including 3 trustees to steer the ship of the union.

In his post election remarks , Alhaji Dam Taka tuku who lauded governor Aliyu Sokoto for his giant strides and intervention in the state transport sector by providing vehicles, said the state chapter of NURTW will continue to be partner the state government inorder to improve the sector for the benefit of Sokoto people and Nigerians.

He assured of making the union more responsive to the transport needs of citizens while pledging to carry every member along in unity.

” Our relationship with relevant stakeholders like FRSC, NLC, Police , VIO will be sustained for harmony “, he said .
