Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dr. Pius Odubu has triumphed over destructive forces led by Governor Godwin Obaseki who tried to upturn his nomination as the Chairman of the NDDC in a show of politics of bitterness.
His nomination by President Muhammadu Buhari was today confirmed by the Senate after a smooth screening exercise in which he was asked to take the traditional bow and go in honor of the great Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, and the workings of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who rallied party members and Senators behind the scene.
Dr. Pius Odubu was confirmed alongside other 14 nominees. He would be now sworn-in by President Muhammadu Buhari or his representative.
The confirmation of Dr. Odubu has elicited jubilation across the Niger Delta region where he is widely supported for his competence, personal integrity and desire to leave a mark.
He has promised to set an example for future successors in the commission through inspirational leadership, provision of infrastructure and development, and transparent operation.
Obaseki and his allies who tried to block his nomination and planted evil stories in the press suggesting that the President had changed his mind on Dr. Odubu are now forced to eat their words and endure another major political blow in their frustrated attempt to block a move supported by the great Oba over partisan politics.
