Omo-Agege Led Hoodlums Invade Senate

Deputy senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has said that the Senate will deal with the incident of the seizure of the Chamber’s mace.

Ekweremadu, who presided over plenary, on Wednesday disclosed this after the house reconvened in a closed door session, shortly after the incident.

Senate plenary was disrupted after suspected thugs invaded the chamber and made away with the maze.

The incident happened few seconds after a suspended senator, Ovie Omo-Agege, entered the chamber.

About 10 suspected thugs who came to the venue with the senator forced their entrance into the chamber and seconds later, the thugs ran out of the chamber with the maze causing pandemonium in the Senate.

Meanwhile, Omo-Agege has been arrested by the police for questioning.

It could be recalled that the senate had on April 12, suspended Omo-Agege during plenary over his remarks that the amendment of the 2010 Electoral Act, which changes the sequence of elections set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari.
