Veteran actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has highlighted the stark contrast in compensation structures between Hollywood and Nollywood, revealing that she receives regular residual payments for her work in the United States while earning none for her decades-long career in Nigeria.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, the award-winning actress reflected on her over 30-year journey in the Nigerian film industry alongside her experience working on American productions.
Jalade-Ekeinde explained that despite spending just five years working in Hollywood, she consistently receives residual checks for projects generated during that period.
In contrast, she noted that 30 years of extensive work in Nollywood has yielded no continuous royalty payments.
Residuals are long-term royalty fees paid to actors and creators whenever their intellectual property or performances continue to generate revenue through syndication, television reruns, digital streaming, and home release platforms.
