An APC lawmaker representing Etsako federal constituency in Edo State, Hon. Johnson Oghuma, has claimed that the All Progressive Congress, APC, have gained ground in the state to point that led to the submission of opposition party.
Mr. Oghuma was reacting to allegations by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Edo State chapter that there was no level playing ground for them to participate in the just concluded LG election in the state.
Earlier, PDP had alleged that there was a planned conspiracy between the ruling party (APC) and the electoral body to rig the election in favour of the party and that was the reason for it boycotting the election.
In his reaction, Hon. Oghuma said, PDP has been humiliated and humbled by the achievements recorded so far since APC took over the hem of affairs in state to a point that the only option the opposition party (PDP) has is to submit. Pointing out that APC government in the state have done a lot for the people of Edo State.
He expressed happiness for the free and fair conduct of the LG election across the state, adding that he was overwhelmed with the turn out of voters who came out en mass to exercise their franchise and to also vote the candidates of their choice.
“I thank God for peaceful conduct of today’s election. What you are witnessing today is an evidence to tell you of what APC led government is doing in Edo State. APC government in Edo State has delivered the true dividends of democracy to the people of the state. For instance, look at road network, schools, youth empowerment, Libya returnees among others. So, the Government of the day is doing credibly well for the people of Edo State.
“Our leader in person of Adams Oshiomole, he has paved the way for our people to follow. I can tell you confidently that we are following his foot steps, we are his boys and he’s grooming us for the task ahead.
“I wouldn’t say much but I can tell you categorically that PDP is no more existing in this state, they have submitted because of the landmarks of the APC in the state. I will also say this, PDP refused to participate in today’s election because they know it that they will not win. Tell me, what will they have used as tools to market themselves? What APC have done is very glaring for people to see”.
Mr. Oghuma also celebrates his birthday with the anticipating victory of the party in the concluded LG election.
“I happy today not just because my party will win the ongoing LG election, am happy because today am celebrating my birthday. It is a thing of joy to be celebrating the awaiting victory of your party and at the same time celebrating birthday. So, am happy today!”
The result of the election is yet to be announced at the time of filing this report.
