President Buhari reiterates commitment to good governance

NIGERIA ‘s President Muhammad Buhari on Wednesday in Sokoto rekindled the hope of Nigerians with a promise to deliver to them good governance with focus on the provision of infrastructure.

According him, if given a second term mandate, Nigerians would reap a lot from his policies and programmes.

He pointed out that nothing is as responsive and development driven than giving good and sustainable leadership for the benefit of the citizenry.

President Buhari made the remarks during a courtesy visit  to Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar at his palace.

The President was in company of top notchers of the All Progressives Congress(APC) to the palace ahead of his campaign rally at the Giginya Memorial township stadium, Sokoto.

Prominent among the delegation were the APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state.

Others were Sen. Sani Yarima, Sen. Ali Mudu Sheriff, Minister of Defence Mansur DanAli, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hajia Ai’sha
Abubakar among many others.

Explaining the strides made by his  said his administration, Buhari pointed out that his achievements were glaring against what it was on security before his  no emergence as President

” You will all recall hat no fewer than 17 local government areas are being controlled by Book
Haram group but at present none.

He added that the armed groups deployed other tactics of using girls as bomb carriers and other pockets of crimes which were drastically reduced
and contained accordingly.

The President explained that it was on record that between 1999 to 2014, Nigeria produced about 2.4 million barrels of crude oil sold at
higher than 100 US Dollars.

He challenged those in doubt to verify from financial institutions and countries buying the nation’s oil adding that maladministration had
been tacked by his administration.

” Leadership is a trust, with our knowledge we will not allow anybody to cheat people or collaborate on any dishonest dealings ” Buhari
said.

“We made fertilizer abundant and affordable which facilitate increased bumper harvest and people minds shift as many at present practice
farming because if the gains” Buhari added.

He assured Sultan that such good development would sustain if elected, noting that they were in that palace for routing blessings as being
done.

While responding, Sultan Abubakar appreciated the visit and urged them to consider same as a home coming, noting that traditional rulers remained fathers of all and assured of continued  fatherly advise for the interest of their people.

Sultan discouraged corruption in all forms and assured to partner with all organs to promote transparent and accountable dealings.

According to him, Islam discouraged evils and called on people to cooperate with organisation on promoting good governance.

He commended Buhari on tacking  security challenges and urged government to provide more working tools and encouragement to security agencies as well as urged personnel to live up the expectations.

The Sultan counselled politicians against breeding violence in all forms and underscored the importance of peaceful coexistence.

He urged politicians to practice the game according law and prayed fur successful conduct of 2019 general elections noting that politicians
should no consider police as war or criminal activities.

Abubakar presented a pamphlet on good leadership he published  among other guides to President.
