Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Halidu Bature alongside chairmen from the 13 wards in the local government area on Thursday, embarked on a protest to the party’s state Secretariat over alleged diversion of electoral materials for the ward primaries ahead of the local government polls.

The angy APC Igabi executives accompanied by members, alleged that lawmakers, Honourable Abubakar Mamadi of the House of Representatives and Honourable Yusuf Zailani of the State House of Assembly took the materials from state Secretariat to an undisclosed location, from where they would select candidates and declare them winners if the primaries.
“We are unhappy about the hijacking of materials for primaries meant for Igabi LGA. They have run away with them. Those materials since they are not in Igabi, are supposed to be here.
“We will not agree with whoever they try to impose on us. All we are appealing to the governor bid to ensure that we get a fair primary election, so that we can all rally round who wins ” Bature said.

Also speaking, APC Chairman of Igabi Ward, Nafiu Musa said that if the wrong was not corrected, they would have no option but to heed the advice of their supporters and members, suggesting they decamp to the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said they are holding on to the pledge by Governor Nasir el-Rufai that he HSS no candidate, wondering why Honourable Mamadi and Zailani would be allowed to rubbish that.
In his remarks, Secretary of APC Gwaraji Ward, Dari Rilwanu said that they were waiting for the voting materials but they did not arrive.
“Here we are at the state headquarters and we are not seeing anyone or the materials meant for Igabi LGA. They know their candidates will fail so they decided to play games,” he said.
He appealed for the governor and state party executives to intervene and fix another date for a credible primaries.
An Igabi LGA APC stakeholders who led the protesters, Tasiu Musa, explained that they were told the materials were at the Trade Fair Complex but on reaching there, nobody or the materials were sighted.
He also accused Honourables Mamadi and Zailani of being behind the disappearance of the materials.
“They did this because they know they don’t have structures on ground at the grassroots in Igabi. We are calling on the governor and party to look into this. They should go and investigate, they will see that no primaries are taking place in all the 12 wards in Igabi LGA at the designated venue,” he said.
