Remains of Tambuwal’s aide, Aisha Maina laid to rest as condolences pour in

Condolences have continued to pour in as the remains of Aisha Maina, Special Adviser to governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Female Education was on Wednesday laid to rest.

Late Maina who’s funeral prayer was performed at the Kalambaina housing estate quarters died at the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital , Sokoto following a stampede at the Giginya township stadium Sokoto venue of the PDP presidential campaign rally held on Tuesday.

The deceased was cought in a stampede at one of the exit gates of the stadium that was crowded by party supporters who attended the rally and was rescued and rushed to the hospital before she gave up few minutes on admission.

The funeral prayer was attended by the state PDP leadership and stalwarts among which was the state gubernatorial candidate , Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma.

Meanwhile , PDP National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, commiserated with Gov. Aminu Tambuwal and people of Sokoto state over the death of Hajiya Aisha Maina, Special Adviser on Female Education Board to Governor.

Ayu in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Alhaji Yusuf Dingyadi described Maina’s death as a great loss to the state, PDP and the nation at large.

Also, the Sokoto state branch of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists in a statement jointly signed by Rakiya Muhammad
State chairperson and Zainab Saidu Abdulnaseer the State Secretary consoled with the family of Aisha Musa Maina , Sokoto state Governor, the government and People of the state over her demise and prayed Allah to grant her eternal rest and grant her family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

In a related development , the Sokoto State Council of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ) has condemned the recent resurfacing of political thuggery at campaign venues in the state.

A statement jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Dalhatu Abdullahi Safiyal Magori and the Secretary Muh’d Nasiru Bello,, observed with worries the visibility of several groups of thugs threatening people with weapons as matchets, sticks, swords, cutlasses and knives at campaign venues.

The statement further described the development as unfortunate, as it also observed that the perpetrators took it laws into their hands to attack innocent citizens and snatch their communication devices ( handsets) including monies and other valuables and upon refusal , they inflict injuries on their victims.

The statement however, appealed to the major political actors across party divides to caution their supporters as well promptly report security matters to appropriate agencies.

It also tasked security agencies on the need to be steadfast on their constitutional responsibility while reminding them on the recent warning by President Muhammadu Buhari on political thuggery and other crimes in the country.
