Actress Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, has lost her bid for the presidency of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in an election conducted on Saturday during the Guild’s annual general meeting in Benin, Edo State.

She was defeated by the outgoing AGN National Secretary, actor Abubakar Yakubu, who succeeds Emeka Rollas as the Guild’s President.
Yakubu secured the victory with 116 votes, narrowly edging out Rita Daniels, who polled 113 votes. Three ballots were declared void.

Yakubu’s win is historic, making him the first Northern actor to lead the AGN since its establishment in the 1990s.
