THE remains of Hajiya A’ishatu Ahmadu Bello, eldest daughter of late Northern Nigeria Premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello(Sardauna of Sokoto) was on Thursday afternoon laid to rest at the historic Hubbaren Shehu in Sokoto according to Islamic injunctions.
Late A’ishatu who died last Friday in Dubai following complications from diabetis, is mother to the Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba Marafa, the Chairman, Board Directors, Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority(SRRBDA).
At the funeral prayer performed at the Sultan Bello Mosque, Sokoto few metres from the Sultan palace , Sokoto led by e Chif Imam, Shiekh Malami Liman Akwara was attended by thousands of muslim faithful including the Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi; Senator Danjuma Goje, Governors Maimala Buni of Yobe state, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto , Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba Marafa and Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu.
Others at the funeral rites before the deceased final internment included: Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, former Governor Abdul’aziz Yari, Senator Ila Gada, Senator Danjuma Goje and former Deputy Governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed Gusau
Also were: Ambassadors Sahabi Isah Gada, Shehu Malami, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Alhaji Dahiru Mangal and Aliyu Gusau among other numerous top government functionaries , lawmakers , politicians and businessmen who also paid their last respect at the funeral rites.
