School Resumption: Kaduna Begins Monitoring Compliance Of Covid-19 Protocols

The Kaduna State government, through the Ministry of Education has embarked on monitoring the level of compliance to the Covid-19 protocols in Schools,with a visit to some schools in the state.

This according to government is to secure the learning environment thereby making it conducive for both students and teachers in the state as they schools are gradually reopening.

According the Head of the Monitoring team, Chairman Teachers Service Board,Mr Adamu Makadi.”we are on a monitoring exercise with the DG Schools quality control Authority and other members of the team, we have been to schools to see on ground the level of compliance to the Covid-19 protocols

“and to see the physical arrangement being done in the various schools visited and as you can see,we have gone to 3 schools today,we have noted the remarks by the DG and other members of the team in respect of some facilities”

While commending the effort of government in ensuing the standard of education and welfare of staff and students in the state, he added “we should also be partners in that arrangement to ensure that things are moving accordingly”

On what the government will do next after the Monitoring “we will make our observation and necessary recommendations”

In the same vein, the DG,Quality Assurance Authority, Hajia Umma Ahmed,said “we have come,we have seen,we have observed and we will take action”

According to her,what informed the unique initiative of government by constituting a monitoring team” we want to ensure that the gradual reopening of the schools are done in accordance with the Covid-19 protocols,

“they children are expected to keep social distancing in their classes, in their hostels as well as in the school environment

“This is the reason why we visit them in their hostels and wherever the are,We are aware that the Covid-19 is still around, covid is still spreading and these children come from different homes and we want to ensure that every child is safe

” we want to ensure that the environment they study is conducive and we have seen their hostels how they sleep, we have seen their level of compliance to the Covid-19 protocols and we will ensure that observations are made and actions taken according to the laid down instructions “she reiterated

Schools visited by the team in the. first phase of the exercise are GSS Kawo,Queen Amina College, Kakuri and Government College,the monitoring exercise is however not limited to public schools in the State.
