The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Captain Chris Ona Najomo as the substantive Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). His confirmation follows a rigorous screening process during which lawmakers unanimously endorsed his appointment, describing it as a strategic and well-deserved decision by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Captain Najomo, a seasoned aviation professional with over a decade of experience in administration and leadership, is widely regarded as the right man for the job. Lawmakers expressed confidence that his appointment would bring much-needed reforms to the sector, particularly in enhancing flight safety, addressing delays and cancellations, and improving staff training and retraining programs.
During the screening, the Senate committee commended his deep understanding of the aviation industry and his track record of integrity and competence. Many senators noted that his leadership could help restore Nigeria’s aviation industry to the golden era of the 1980s when efficiency and reliability were hallmarks of the sector.
As he assumes office, stakeholders are hopeful that Captain Najomo will implement policies that will boost the industry’s global reputation and ensure seamless air travel for Nigerians.
