Senator Kabiru Gaya Sad Over Kanti Bello’s Passage

Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya APC (Kano South) has expressed deep sadness and grief over the passage of Senator Mahmud Kanti Bello who was senator in the sixth Senate from Katsina State.

In a statement personally signed by the senator, the Vice-president (IPU Africa) and former governor of Kano State said that the deceased was a role model as a lawmaker. He said that it was more painful looking back at the time they served together adding that contributions of the late senator Mahmud Kanti Bello will remain nostalgic in the minds of followers of events in the country. He explained that while late senator was Chief Whip, he (Gaya) was deputy minority whip.

Senator Gaya said that the passage of Bello has created a vacuum that will take time to fell as the senate will greatly missed his advisory role to the senate and senators. He further said that the late senator Kanti Bello was outspoken and courageous on national issues without sentiment of party or religious affiliation.

Late senator Kanti Bello served in the Senate for two terms and represented Katsina North Senatorial District between 2003 and 2011 under the platform of the defunct All Peoples Party (APP) and later decamped to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The chairman Senate Committee on Works while sympathizing with the immediate family of the late Senator, constituents and the government and people of Katsina State, prayed that the Almighty Allah will grant the departed Al-Janatul firdaus.
