Senator Lamido ETF awards 42 candidates foreign scholarship for UG,PG programmes in Indian universities

FIRST batch of 42 out of the 100 Sokoto east indigenous candidates successfully screened and certified for sponsorship by the Senator Ibrahim Lamido Education Trust Fund to study in India have been issued letters of award to undergo various under and post graduate programmes.

The the successful candidates expected to undergo various programmes in Engineering and Sciences as well robotics at GEETA and MJPR universities are drawn from across the 8 LGs of Sabon Birni, Rabah, Illela, Gada, Goronyo, Wurno, Gwadabawa and Isa respectively.

Sponsor of the candidates for the courses abroad, Senator Ibrahim Lamido represented by member representing Gwadabawa/Illela Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives , Hon. Bello Isah Ambarura said the gesture was in tune with the mission and vision of the ruling APC to avail the youths of accessing qualitative education inorder to fast track positive societal development.

Lamido noted that education was the sure way and panacea to reversing all social vices trending in the lives of youths of current generation.

According to the lawmaker ” the idea of the scholarship to the students without promoting any political sentiment is a testimony of Lamido’s kindness to people.

” It is also in fulfilment of APC wishes and aspirations aimed at providing quality education, eradicating poverty and to encourage self reliance against the hardship rampaging our country”, Ambarura pointed out while disclosing that Lamido’s gestures have impacted numerous other aspects of human needs.

He urged the benefitting students to be focused and punctual in school activities not to waste the resources expended on them.

” You should dedicate yourselves to your course of studies and be of good conduct as ambassadors of the state and Nigeria so you can excel “, he urged.

In his remarks, the Guest Speaker, Professor Muazu Shamaki said the gesture of Senator Lamido has opened a new chapter of positive vision that created affordable and accessible education for his constituents.

He said the Fund had also supported the education of his constituents by providing JAMB forms, scholarships , registration fees and upkeep for secondary and tertiary students in the Senatorial District including the distribution of 30 motorcycles.

He described Lamido as a role model and change leader with passion for education of his people.

” Beneficiaries should see this gesture beyond scholarship award but an investment in their future. You should therefore, embrace the challenges and hurdles while you remain curious and pursue dream to make learning more meaningful to you.”, Shamaki tasked them.

Also, Co-Speaker and Representative Sani Yakubu (Sokoto-APC) Tangaza/Gudu Federal Constituency described education as a veritable ingredient that lubricate the path for nation building and development.

He explained that Lamido was a symbol of true leader with commitment to course and responsibility to constituents.

” We have seen several milestone of the lawmaker in gainfully securing employment for youths across institutions , installation of solar powered light and boreholes, assisting widows and elders and establishment of computer based centre to advance opportunities for youths in computer skills and engineering in the district”, enumerated among many others.

In his welcome address, Chairman of the occasion and Sole Administrator of Goronyo LG , Alhaji Kabiru Shehu Sarkin Fulani acknowledged the unequalled contributions of the lawmaker through Fund and other social interventions to communities across his constituency.

He called on the beneficiaries to remain focus and pursue their programmes with every seriousness to achieve academic excellence and be worthy ambassadors.

However, a beneficiary, Kabiru Abubakar Turawa who is billed to study Bi-Tech in Indian commended Senator Lamido for the rare gesture and show of love for education of youths.

” He has given us a life line and we will not disappoint his expectations at the end of our programmes so we can pay back to our respective communities “, he assured.
