The Chairman, Northern Senators Forum, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District has personally commenced the rehabilitation of a faulty electricity supply line to some villages in the Gumbi District, Wamakko Local Government of Sokoto State.
The affected villages include: Gandi, Gumbi, Barkeji, Baga, Kaurar Malam Garba, Yar Abba, Gidan Bobiri, Kammata, Fanfare, Gidan Yaggo, Sabon garin Arkilla and Gidan Ali, among others.
The gesture by the APC Senator was contained in a statement Saturday by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani.
However, the statement said the Chairman of Wamakko Local Government, Alhaji Bello Buba Kaurar-Kimba flagged off the rehabilitation work on Friday on behalf of Senator Wamakko.
Accordingly, the statement explained that, the supply line became faulty since about two years ago and was not repaired since then.
It also noted that the fault had plunged several villages in the District into prolonged darkness, hence, negatively affected the socioeconomic lives of the residents.
In thesame vein, Senator Wamakko was quoted as saying that, he embarked on the project in continuation of his relentless efforts to further uplift the living standard of the entire people of Sokoto State.
” Electricity is very crucial in enhancing the lives of individuals, as such, its dearth will have colossal negative consequences on their lives,” Senator Wamakko, further averred.
Also speaking, the Contractor, Mr James Momoh said that, the rehabilitation works entailed the general repairs of the faulty supply line, as well as its diversion from the current 33 KVA to 11 KVA Wamakko supply line.
Mr Momoh also promised to complete the work within one week as scheduled and according to specifications.
The spokesman of the communities, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Gumbi, the former Vice Chairman of Wamakko Local Government commended Senator Wamakko for the invaluable gesture.
Alhaji Abubakar Gumbi also recalled that, thousands of residents of the benefitting communities had faced myriad of traumatizing experiences sequel to the break down of the electiricty supply line for nearly two years.
He further promised to jealously guard all public utilities in the area from vandals, even as he commended Wamakko Local and Sokoto State governments for their efforts to improve the lives of the people
