Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has flagged off a 5 day free medical outreach for 5,000 constituents with eye related problems.

The medical outreach sponsored by the Sokoto North Senator through his foundation ( Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko Foundation ) in collaboration with experts( professionals )from vision savers eye centre, commenced screening exercise and treatment for patients with various eye challenges at the weekend.

Speaking , Senator Aliyu Wamakko said the outreach as part of his numerous humanitarian, health, skills acquisition , scholarship and social welfare and empowerment programmes for constituents.

Wamakko , a former governor of Sokoto state represents Sokoto North Senatorial District comprising Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Kware, Binji, Silame, Wamakko ,Tangaza and Gudu local governments.
According to the lawmaker who noted that the issue of health remain a significant aspect of human life and survival pointing out that ” eye is sensitive and important sense organ in human being. Loosing one sight or vision is a big set back in one’s life journey hence, this initiative.”
Wamakko, represented by the Permanent Secretary Sokoto state Ministry of Agriculture, Al-mustapha Abubakar Alkali explained that the outreach had provided adequate medical equipments needed for the exercise.
He disclosed that the foundation had provided similar opportunities for patients in 2017, 2018 among other initiatives in agriculture , water supply , submersible pumps for irrigation farming activities and electrification.
The lawmaker also seized the opportunity to call on other lawmakers to undertake similar programmes and others that directly affects the lives of constituents.
Earlier, Dr Bala explained that the outreach would focus on three major aspects of eye challenges ; surgery , treatment and allergy.
” We will entertain those with glaucoma, short and long sights and surgery for those with serious challenge”, he mentioned.
According to the health official ” Those needing glasses will be provided and those with near lost of sights, will undergo surgery at the Sokoto Specialist Hospital.
” We have made arrangements with the state Specialists Hospital for surgery cases.
” We commend Senator Wamakko for the gesture and the governor for agreeing to support the use of the state specialist hospital for surgeries.”
