In a rare feat, the Senator representing Kaduna Central Zone, Shehu Sani, this afternoon put his popularity to test at the market square when he visited hundreds of traders at the Kaduna Central Market.
Senator Sani unaided by armed security stormed the Kaduna main market known as Gumi Market apparently acting on the challenge thrown to him by Governor Nasir El–Rufai to visit the market square as a test of his popularity in the State.
On his arrival at the Central Market, hundreds of market women and other traders abandoned their wares to welcome the Senator chanting “Sai Shehu, Sai Shehu, Sai Shehu”.
Meanwhile, the special adviser to the Senator on politics and strategy, Comrade Ahmed Suleiman said ” the visit by Senator Shehu Sani to the Market to see traders is an annual event to him”.
It would also be recalled that Governor El-Rufai on Monday dared Shehu Sani, to a popularity contest at the state’s Central Market.
The governor threw the challenge while addressing Journalists saying, “Shehu Sani cannot even campaign in the market. I challenge him, let us go to Kaduna Central Market and let’s see who will come out unscathed.”
