AS campaigns for elective positions ahead of the 2019 polls commence, Sokoto state chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC) has started reaping results with no fewer than 50, 000 new converts joining its fold Thursday after dumping the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
Those who added to the political force of the opposition APC in the state include a notable politician and a former council chairman, Hon. Humma Humma and a former representative and others who contested on the platform of PDP in 2015.
The development followed the inauguration last Sunday of campaign council, committees and coordinators by the party being led by Senator Aliyu Wamakko for a full scale state wide campaign activities.
Senator Wamakko and leader of APC in the state who inaugurated a 26 -man campaign council last Sunday, assisted bybthe state party chairman, Sadeeq Isah Active received the PDP defectors at Wamakko’s senatorial office along Garba Duba road, Sokoto.

Chairman expressed delight for the wise decision of the PDP decampees to join the APC.
Wamakko further said the party’s doors were open for those who are willing to join” anyone who decamped to APC and those willing to do same should be free to. You should not be afraid of any intimidation. No one will intimidate or threaten you.
The Sokoto central District Senator further extended the warm greetings of President Muhammdau Buhari to the good people of the state, adding that” his message is a tip of the ice bag”, assuring that the President would soon be in the state to appreciate
Also in his remarks, Isah Achida described the decision of the PDP decampees to join the fold of APC as a testimony to the fact that the party remain the best in Sokoto state and Nigeria.
” For us, is a good omen and a sign of the anticipated victory. More people will join us from the PDP soon before the general elections.
” We are focused, determined and resolute to carry every one along without discrimination”; he added.
Pledging their loyalty on behalf of 18 former PDP contestants in 2015 who decamped, Hon. Murtala Hassan R/Sambo and Hon. Humma Humma who spokein same direction said they were committed and would work for the victory of the party.
According to him” we have made our objective comparisons based on facts and realities which we resolved to join the APC for its sprawling political strength and direction in the interest of Nigerians.
” Today, we are proud members of a party that appreciates the worth of all and working for the good and benefit of all across all levels”, explained the two.
