FOUR new commissioner nominees were Wednesday confirmed by the Sokoto state House of Assembly for appointment by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
They include: Professor Aisha Madawaki, Alhaji Ahmed Barade, Alhaji Garba Tsitse and Alhaji Bello Ambarura respectively.
However, their confirmation followed the due process of screening by the state legislature at its plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Salihu Maidaji.
In a motion by the House Leader, Hon. Garba Bello Yabo, said in view of the provision of Section192 subsection(1)and (2) of the 199 constitution as amended, Tambuwal submitted four names of nominees to be appointed as commissioners which according him were persons of proven integrity and dedication that had served the state and nation in various capacities while noting that the appointment was in line with provision of Section 14 subsection 4 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
He said” These persons would assist the state Governor in discharging his statutory responsibility and serve as members of the executive council to support the government achieve it’s goals”, he said.
Accordingly, the motion was subjected to voting which was unanimously accepted by the lawmakers
