No fewer than 15 indigent students from Wamakko local government of Sokoto state have been awarded scholarship by the Sokoto Cement Company otherwise Cement Company of Northern Nigeria(CCNN) Sokoto.
Accordingly, the company donated 2,800 bags of cement to the community to enebale them renovate their homes before the peak of the raining season.
Speaking, the Managing Director, Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu who made the disclosure in SokotoTuesday said the gesture worth over N7 million was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and to complement government’s efforts at providing education to the people as well shelter to members of the community.
He explained that the company’s relationship with its host community way back 50 years, adding that” we will continue to offer such gestures in rural roads construction, electrification, healthcare, water and youth empowerment”
According to Aminu” the beneficiary students will be given N100, 000 annually until the completion of their studies”
He urged them to make good use of the money and remain noble ambassadors of their community.
The Managing Director further thanked and commended Sokoto state Wamakko local governments and other stakeholders in the state for their support.
However, three of the students, Abubakar Tukur Usman, Medicine at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto; Chiroma Shehu, Physics at SSCOE, Sokoto and Nasiruddeen, Computer Science at Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto were presented N100,000 each.
