Sokoto : COWA President, Mrs Adeniyi sensitises on Green Border Initiative, RH Measles, Rubella vaccines.

Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi , wife of the CGC and President, Customs Officers Wives Association ( COWA ) says the association has braced up initiatives to deepen and sensitise on the Renewed Hope Agenda drive for sustained success on Measles Rubella vaccines and Green Border project among women in customs barracks communities.

Mrs Adeniyi disclosed in Sokoto Sunday night while on courtesy visit to the Sokoto First Lady, Hajiya Dr Fatima Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto said COWA had rolled out a number of initiatives targeting it barracks community as well the society.

The COWA President disclosed that the association under her leadership had plan to establish an Eco-System centre to serve as hub at Illela border for green skills acquisition while noting that women were pillars to societal development stressing that the Green Border initiatives had also designed a monthly clean up of border areas.

” This will also provide a platform for our women to know how to recycle waste for wealth”, Mrs Adeniyi told the governor’s wife.

According to her, customs wives were an important cluster that needed to be sensitised to actively participate in developing a friendly eco-system that supports the environment for healthy living .

” Our target is basically at the border and Sokoto is a critical and important border area that should be given attention.

” The Illela border post is an important place and gateway for activities .Customs wives must always support their husbands and their immediate communities where their barracks are situated.

She hitherto, added” We are empowering them also to be able to support their families and society even while at home. You don’t have to go out before you gain economic dependence. You can be successful while in you living room engage in one business or the other”, She pointed out while noting that Hajiya Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto’s efforts at driving initiatives was commendable and on track in line with realities about women empowerment needs.

According to the COWA President , women were a dependable pillar to societal development stressing that the Green Border initiatives had also designed a monthly clean up of border areas as well introduce women into green skills acquisition by recycling of the waste into wealth.

” We also try not to pollute the environment ”, She said expressing enthusiasm and hoping to drive a robust and enhanced collaboration with the state.

Responding, Dr Fatima Aliyu Sokoto flanked by Hajiya Aisha Idris Muhammad Gobir , wife of the state deputy governor expressed appreciation for the COWA initiative and sensitisation on the RH Rubella , measles vaccines and green border project.

She noted that the drive was positive and ready to support it to success as the first lady disclosed that the state was doing a lot to improve the living condition of its people through interventions.

Dr Aliyu Sokoto said ” we are not relenting efforts at ensuring empowerment and other interventions reach our women to attain self reliance. We have initiated so many skills acquisition programmes to support them across the state “, explained her.
