The newly posted Commissioner of Police to Sokoto state state command, Mr Murtala Usman Mani has said that he would not leave any stone unturned in the command’s drive to ensure the security of lives and property across the state.
Addressing a press conference Tuesday to officially announce his resumption, Mani said the command would actively coordinate grassroots policing to strengthen its capacity in synergy with other security agencies.
According to the Katsina state born Police Commissioner” we will not hesitate to carry the media, traditional institutions, vigilante group and relevant others in our fight against crime and criminals.
” These organs are very vital in both information dissemination and crime detection, arrests and control.
” This will greatly assist the command in simplifying its operations especially where it involves grassroots policing”, he said.
Mani also said the command would extend its spirit of fraternity by working closely with the vigilante group to be able to achieve its strategy of marking crime areas for proper patrol.
” We want the public to know that we are serving them with every sense of commitment and determination to free them of all manner of crimes”‘ , he stressed.
He further appealed to the press to be more active by redoubling their efforts in enlightening the public while noting that security was a collective responsibility towards advancing the socio-political courses and safety of lives and property of the people.
“Timely and useful information is critical to our operations. We are soliciting the improved support and cooperation of the public and hope they will continue to have confidence in our officers and men to collectively achieve a crime free Sokoto state and Nigeria”, he further appealed.
