The Commission said 6 of the properties marked and listed for investigation fall fall under section 29 of its Act while the rest two were being investigated under the proceed of crime Act 2022.

Hitherto, the commission dwelled it forfeiture claim on a petition presented to it alleging that the properties were illegally acquired through dubious means by some yet to bee identified Sokoto government officials.

However, upon receipt of the petition, the Commission was said to have approached the Court to secure an interim forfeiture order to enable it commence investigation into the authenticity and legality of the said properties.
