Sokoto L-PRES project reviews template, steps to boost livestock production

The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has taken steps for a comprehensive review of its template for a sustained drive towards boosting livestock production in Sokoto state.

The drive is in furtherance to bracing it mandate for accelerated and enhanced commitment to harmonising the three value chains in the state which Cattle, Poultry, as well as Sheep and Goats as being domesticated in participating states respectively.

The project State Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, highlighted during the strategic review session for stakeholders held in Sokoto.

He explained that L-PRES carefully considered the unique needs of each project to further strengthen a robust review process approach towards realising it set objectives.

However, the Coordinator also disclosed that experts from the academia were engaged in the exercise, working alongside officials from the Ministry of Animal Health and Fisheries Development and the Sokoto Agricultural Development Project (SADP).

He acknowledged that SADP played a critical role in training extension workers who directly support L-PRES initiatives across the state.

In his remarks, Abubakar Mohammed Yabo , Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Animal Health and Fisheries Development, described the review as timely, given the ongoing implementation of L-PRES activities in the state.

Yabo sought the stakeholder participants to evolve a document with constructive input that drive both practical and comprehensive approach in addressing the needs of L-PRES and its staff effectively.

However, experts including Prof. Ango Adamu Kamba, Dr. Bello Muhammad Rabah, (represented by Shehu Muhammad Rabah), and Prof. S.A. Maigandi all of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto led in the review process with contributions from a range of stakeholders.
