Sokoto students coalition hails Governor Aliyu Sokoto, urges free education

A coalition of Sokoto state indigenous students’ associations has hailed Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his resilience towards prioritising education and support to Sokoto indigenous students academic pursuit across institutions of higher learning.

Speaking to reporters at a joint press conference in Sokoto Monday , Comrade Musa Atiku who chairs the Usmanu Danfodiyo chapter of SOSSA said the governor has not only recognised the relevance of education to Sokoto people but enabled productive youths age group pursue their studies with dedication.

” He has paid tuition fees for over 7,740 students of UDUS and another 5,996″, he said.

According to Atiku 21% of the benefitting students were undergoing medical courses who will inturn reduce the dearth of health workforce in the state upon completion.

However, the coalition explained that the giant strides being significantly piloted by the governor gave students stakeholders to leverage the space for the launch of a 7-point agenda that would drive efficiency and academic performance for excellence in schools.

” It has inspired us to actively involve our selves in the process of transformation of schools”, he said .
Meanwhile, representatives of FOSOSSA, Students Associations Forum Executives and students coordinators across the state 23 LGs in attendance gave a rendition in solidarity with Nigeria and Sokoto state for education to be free.

” Nigeria must unite, Sokoto state must be great and education must be free”, as they sounded aluta continua, victory acerta.
