As line up of activities on Friday, heralded events with a special prayer session and lecture by prominent Islamic scholars on the 20th anniversary of Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar’s enthronement coming up on Sunday ,
no fewer than 500 minutes indigent patients requiring major operations and other critical medical attention have been slated to access free humanitarian support services at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital(UDUTH) , Sokoto and the Specialist hospital , Sokoto respectively today Saturday .
Similarly, 56 inmates at the Sokoto National Correctional Service have also been arranged for release after paying the necessary fines as it applied to each inmate.
Disclosing the development on Friday at a pre-anniversary ceremonies press briefing ,Bashir Ummarun Kwabo A.A, the Publicity Sub Committee Chairman on the formal turbanning of Professor Mansur Ibrahim and Hon. Murtala Dan Iya Bashir Ummarun Kwabo A.A said the exercise is part of religious, humanitarian and cultural activities and gestures slated to honour the duo at the 20th anniversary of the revered monarch and NIREC Co – Chair who was enthroned on 1st November, 2006 sequel to the demise of the late Sultan Muhammadu Maccido.
The duo, Professor Mansur Ibrahim and Gon. Murtala Dan Iya are among prominent Sokoto indigenes to be formally turbanned with titles of ” Dallatun Sokoto” and ” Danmasanin Sokoto ” respectively by the Sultan of Sokoto at his palace on Sunday.
Bashir Kwabo explained that the compassionate visits to the two health facilities and the Correctional centre were aimed at extending the needed compassion to the less privileged who could not afford to meet their health needs.
In the same vein, the Sub- Committee Chairman disclosed that there would be preaching session by 11 prominent scholars from across the country.
” This session is in tow parts to commence Friday night 31st October , 2026 and Sunday night respectively at the Abu Huraira Mosque , Polo club Sokoto.
” A dinner and grand Durbar in procession including shaving and grand re potion events will hold after turbanning at Ummarun Kwabo residence, Polo Club , Sokoto”, he reeled out.
However, celebration of Sultan’s 20th anniversary reign on the throne of the caliphate will be displayed at the International Conference Centre, Kasarawa on Monday to climax the events which promises to be colourful and exciting to dignitaries and invitees.
Meanwhile, Bashir Ummarun Kwabo acknowledged and recognised the sustained royal and fatherly role of the Sultan while appreciating Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for leading Sokoto APC affairs in the right direction as well Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto’s giant strides and contributions in providing quality leadership to the state.
