Tambuwal: ” I am yet to receive call from my opponent congratulating me” …as governor pledges to revolutionise Sokoto

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Monday said he is yet to receive phone call from his opponent, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto nor his Principal, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko congratulating him over his victory last Saturday.

Similarly, Tambuwal said anything in the contrary, should be within the realm of public speculation just as he urged those in the opposition to magnanimously join hand with his administration for the development of the state.

” I wish to call on my opponents to see reason for the need to join hands with me in the paramount interest of moving the state to its rightful place of development. My victory is for all Sokoto state people and we should come together and work.”

The governor however, said his reelection was never influenced by any being but the supreme will of God which the people of Sokoto state sought through prayer and fasting for the almighty to decide and He did.

Tambuwal who got reelected for another four years with a slim margin of 342 votes spoke during a brief chat with reporters in Government House Sokoto where he said he and the ruling PDP in the state would not forget the figure’342′ given to him by Sokoto people.

According to him” We will work without sentiments of interest nor give room for undue influence by individuals who are branded ‘ cabals’. The interest and prosperity of the state remain undiluted.”, he stressed.

He described  the victory figure of 342 most slimmest in the history of polls he ever witnessed, noting that” it goes a long way to show how important 342 lead margin is and we will reciprocate that by giving our best to changed the lives of our people in all spheres of  development”, he assured.

On his self assessment in the last 4years, the PDP governor- elect said his government had done well for reversing and changing the narratives on under development in the state within the limit of available resources.

Although, he added” No matter your good intentions and planning without commensurate resources to implement basic and fundamental rolling plan for development, nothing can be achieved”, he explained.

In the same vein, the governor who has continued receiving individuals, groups and organisations on congratulatory visit, explained that the state government had invested enormous resources in human capital than infrastructural development, noting that the earlier was key and pivot for attaining societal prosperity in all spheres of development.

” We see human capital development as a driving force and necessary component for any development. This is why we embrace and dedicate time and resources to educate our children, empower women and support less privileged persons with stipends for up-keep.

” It is a long term investment that has positive multiplying effect on our people.”

However, while responding to question on his plan of action on strategic areas of focus, Tambuwal remarked that his reelection will afford a more robust approach in revolutionising the state to be a hub for business activities as well improve better water supply across the state while deliberate focus on agriculture, health and rural development remain priority areas.

Accordingly on security as well challenges of banditry, kidnapping among other related crimes experienced in parts of e state,Tambuwal said effective and efficient collaboration with traditional institution and rulers were being facilitated at the state and local levels even as he stated that FG was at the helm of ensuring security of lives and property.

” We at the state and local levels are fast tracking as well bracing up though collaboration and synergy sharing intelligence to nip it in the bud”, he explained further.

On carrying women along in the affairs of governance in the state, the former HoRs Speaker his government would continue to accord relevance to them while recalling ” women were forgotten by previous administrations in the state. But my government reversed the trend by appointing female commissioners in view of their significance as a result of heir roles in government and politics. They supported my reelection tremendously through votes”, he pointed out.
