Sokoto state governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has reiterated the state government continued support towards the spread of scholarly and intellectual works of Shiekh Usmanu Danfodiyo and his disciples; Abdullahin Gwandu and Muhammadu Bello for the advancement of knowlegde.
Similarly, the governor disclosed that a suitable land would be allocated for the establishment of Nana Asma’u University of Medical Sciences for female.
Tambuwal made the disclosures in Sokoto while receiving part of the 1.6 million copies of the published works of the late Jihadist presented to him by the Chairman , Committee on the Publication and Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Mera.
He recalled that ” one of the most significant aspect of the reigns of late Danfodiyo was his drive and quest for education and knowledge acquisition.
” The caliphate had an organised administrative structure and pattern which the colonial masters met on ground and worthy of emulation by all.”
He thanked the Sultan Foundation for given the state government the rare privilege to spare head the publication of the literary works.
Earlier, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Ismaila Mera told the governor that the books dwelled on issues of education, leadership, security, rights of citizens, customs, judiciary among others.
” It is gratifying to know that it is a thing of pride to accomplish this course. We have two container load of the publication. One is in Niger which we will soon receive delivery”, he disclosed.
Mera acknowlegde and expressed delight to the governor for graciously sponsoring the publication which described as a positive launching path of sustaining the revered and intellectual literary contributions of the late Islamic jihadist who stood for justice, equity, leadership and good governance.
