Taraba Govt Clears LG Staff, Pay 2,960 Salary Arrears

Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku, has approved the immediate payment of salaries of 2,960 staff across the 16 Local Government Councils of the State.

The approval follows the clearance of the affected staff after the State wide Biometric Exercise conducted by the state government.
While briefing the press, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair, Alhaji Bello Hero, said “The governor has graciously approved the immediate payment of salaries of cleared and authenticated 2,960 staff across the 16 Local Government Councils of the State that had various issues with payment of their salaries as a result of the State wide Biometric Exercise conducted.
“While the exercise is yet to be concluded in view of the hitches occasioned by wrong or lack of BVN/Account numbers and mismatch of names of genuine staff, the Bureau and NULGE, Taraba State Chapter met and harmonized complaints for non-payment of staff salaries where a total of 2,960 staff were cleared and authenticated having found to be genuine staff of their various Local Government Councils.
“In view of the above, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has directed that 2,960 cleared staff be immediately paid two (2) months arrears which amounts to N75,625,738.55 per month.
The Perm Sec concluded that UBA Plc. has been officially directed to commence the payments, Tuesday, 10 July, 2017
The state deputy president of NULGE Alhaji Musa Muhammed said that the union was glad that the issues surrounding the payments of local government staff was finally resolved amicably.

Musa Muhammed reiterated the resolve of the union to work with the state government and its agencies for the common good of the people rather than been at logger heads.

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Taraba State has graciously approved the immediate payment of salaries of cleared and authenticated 2,960 staff across the 16 Local Government Councils of the State that had various issues with payment of their salaries as a result of the State wide Biometric Exercise conducted.
