Ilorin, Kwara State — October 12, 2025: Troops of the Nigerian Army under 2 Division/Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have continued their onslaught against bandits in Kwara State, successfully rescuing three kidnapped victims in coordinated operations within the Babanla Forest on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

According to a statement from the Nigerian Army, the rescue followed credible intelligence that led troops from the Patrol Base Babanla to a suspected bandit hideout. During the operation, the soldiers rescued Mrs. Oluwabusayo Taiwo, aged 25, and her three-year-old son, Taiwo Irayomide, who were among victims abducted at Oke-Ode on September 28, 2025.
The Army disclosed that the mother and child received first aid treatment at the Patrol Base sick bay and would be reunited with their family members soon.
In a separate incident, while on a routine patrol along a suspected bandit route, troops encountered another victim — Mr. Mohammadu Sani, popularly known as Mai Shayi, a 40-year-old tea seller from Garkarima. The bandits reportedly fled upon sighting the patrol team, abandoning Sani, who was found in a pool of blood.
A dane gun and a cutlass were recovered from the scene, while the rescued victim is currently receiving medical attention at the military facility.
The Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, commended the troops for their swift response and professionalism, assuring that the Nigerian Army remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
He added that the ongoing Operation FANSAN YAMMA would continue to intensify efforts to restore peace and stability across Kwara State and its environs.
