Uba Sani, Kabido Newspaper Boss, Others Gets Award

…Fake News has wrecked havoc in our society – Sen. Uba San

Senator representing Kaduna Central District in the Upper Legislative Chambers, Uba Sani, has expressed his concerns over the problem that fake news has become in the country.

Even as he accused people of using the social media platforms to misinforming the general public, wrecking havoc on the unity of the country.

The Senator was speaking at the Maiden Roundtable/Zonal Meeting organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists North-West Zone in collaboration with Kaduna State Council at the weekend.

Uba Sani who was a recipient at the award presentation also had Mr Adamu Marshal, a veteran journalist, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Publisher of Kabido Newspaper a community based weekly paper, as a recipient.

Marshal had severally held positions of responsibility at both the Kaduna Council of the NUJ as well as the National level.

Senator Uba Sani while speaking said the gathering with the theme: “Fake News, Governance and Society” was timely because the major problem in the country today is the issue of fake news.

He disclosed that at the National Assembly (NASS) level, there are two bills before the House to checkmate the problem of fake news, as members believed it is very important.

“I have no doubt in my mind that events like this will certainly proffer solutions to this problems of fake news because the stakeholders are discussing it.

“It has created lots of problems in our society. I’m happy this event is held in Kaduna, and also that stakeholders came here with open minds.

“I have no doubt that at the end of the day they will come up with a position that will be beneficial to Nigerians,” he said.
