Umahi inspects concrete, asphalted Sokoto-Kaduna dual carriage way, tasks BUA Cement on price reduction

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi says the second 372 of the 744 kilometres Sokoto-Kaduna dual carriage way will be pure concrete constructed in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda blue print.

Umahi who was in company of the Senate Committee Chairman on Housing, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal made the disclosure in Sokoto while explaining that ” If you calculate the 372 kilometers, because it is dual carriage way into two will give us total of 744 kilometers.”

“I am here to see things for myself, as you are aware, the federal government is currently embarking on 372 dual kilometers of road of which the first phase will be done with Asphalt, while the step down will be done with concrete.”

He said the dual carriage way by the Federal government will span from Kaduna to Sokoto state.

Meanwhile, the Minister who also visited BUA’s Cement headquarters Sokoto , charged the management of the leading cement manufacturer to reconsider further reduction of cement price.

While making further remarks , Umahi said: ” When the chairman of the company visited Mr President last week, he assured that the 5th line will soon commence operation and with my visit here, I can confirm the 5th line, though waiting yet to be commissioned has already commenced operation” as he acknowledged the cleanliness within the entire premises of the company.

Hie words : ” I must commend you for ensuring absolute cleanliness within the environment of the company. It is also worthy to mentioned that no loitering around of staffs in the company, this is a commendable development and I want you to keep it up.”

Briefly speaking , Senator Aminu Tambuwal, who noted that BUA management was fast committed and living up to expectations in its operations and responsibilities, appealed to the management to improve it’s production capacity to ensure availability of the product to the masses at affordable prices.

” This is to meet up with the current administration vision of housing for all”, he pointed out.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of the company, Engineer Yusuf Binji, assured that with the 5th line, the company will ensure massive production of the product while assuring that with increase in the production of cement, the price of the product in the market will drop.
