UNITED STATES URGES NIGERIA TO STRENGTHEN PROTECTION FOR CHRISTIANS

The United State Under Secretary for Political Affairs Allison Hooker has called on the Nigerian government to intensify its efforts to protect Christian communities, noting that recent attacks underscore the urgent need for more decisive action.

While acknowledging some recent progress, Hooker emphasized that ensuring religious freedom and security is vital for deepening the bilateral relationship between the United States and Nigeria.

She highlighted that such advancements would yield mutual benefits, including more robust trade and economic cooperation, enhanced health responses, and a more effective joint fight against terrorism.

Furthermore, she noted that improved security remains essential for the successful and safe return of internally displaced persons to their communities.
