Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has urged Nigerians to work towards sustainable peace, unity and prosperity of the country irrespective of religious, ethnic or cultural differences.
Wamakko who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District in the National Assembly made the call through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani in a statement made available to reporters in Sokoto Monday evening said God has not made a mistake by creating Nigerians with diverse religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and dfferences.
The APC Senator stated while receiving members of the Yoruba community and the Katsina state indigenes Association on separate courtesy calls on him at his Gawon Nama, Sokoto residence.
He noted that , the differences between Nigerians were meant to further unite them and not to disunite them.
The Lawmaker, however, stressed the need for Nigerians to continue to show love and respect to one another, while being patriotic to Nigeria in the course of building a more prosperous nation.
He commended the members of the Yoruba Community and the association for immensely contributing to the peace, unity and socioeconomic development of the state and Nigeria in general.
Speaking earlier, the Sarkin Yorubawa of Sokoto State, Alhaji Abdulfatai Coker and the the President-General of the Yoruba Community, Mr James Tolorun, commended Senator Wamakko for being a worthy Father to them for several decades.
On his part, the Chairman of the Katsina State Indigenes Association, Sokoto State Chapter, Alhaji Alhaji Aliyu Daura, DEDA, hailed Senator Wamakko for his sustained support to it.
Members of the two groups also pledged to continue to make Sokoto State as their second home, as well as vowed to always work to ensure peace and unity of the state and Nigeria in general.
Meanwhile, Senator Wamakko has promised to secure employment opportunities and provide bursary awards to the members of the Kungiyar Sarkin Yakin Matasan Nakasari
