Speaking in Abuja during a visit from the management of Daar Communications on Tuesday, Wike explained that his statement about “shooting” the journalist through the screen was an expression of extreme frustration rather than an intent to cause physical harm.

The Minister noted that he has since spoken with Okinbaloye to resolve the misunderstanding and urged media houses to maintain professional neutrality in their reporting.

For his part, Okinbaloye responded during a recent broadcast by affirming that he remains unintimidated and will continue to hold those in power accountable, stressing that violent rhetoric has no place in a democratic society.
