This Question was asked by a user of Quora app : Will Bill Cosby be penniless if he survives prison?
And this was Jon Mixon’s answer :- No, he won’t be.
Why?
- Cosby’s net worth is estimated to be between $400–500 Million USD – That’s more than enough money to not only fight off any serious civil judgements beyond what he’s already paid, it’s more than enough to afford him an exceptional life when he leaves prison, which will probably relatively soon due to his age and illnesses.
- Cosby’s wife has demonstrated no interest in divorcing him – Camille Cosby has had numerous opportunities to leave Cosby and reduce his personal wealth by at least 50%. She has remained by her husband’s side for a host of reasons, including his vast wealth.
- Cosby has almost certainly indemnified himself against civil legal actions – He has had more than a decade to prepare himself for eventual civil litigation. His attorneys have almost certainly tied up his assets into so many business entities, trusts and other financial entanglements that it could take years to unravel them.
- He has the ability to earn more money – What a number of people seem to forget is that Cosby spent nearly six decades in the entertainment industry. Even if his acting and standup careers are finished (which they already had been since the beginning of his sexual assault arrest, trials and conviction) he is wealthy and well-versed in the industry. He can continue to invest in future projects if he chooses to do so (using corporate shells to disguise his involvement) and he can make additional money from future projects.
Frankly, Bill Cosby will never have worry about money for the remainder of his life. His current imprisonment is a personal setback, not a financial one, as there is no way that he can be prevented from earning money while he’s incarcerated.
