Yuletide: Sokoto govt supports resident communities with N25m, food items

Sokoto state government at the weekend supported resident communities in the state with N25 million and food items to enable them celebrate Christmas and New Year with ease.

No fewer than 25 groups will each benefit 10 bags of 50kg rice, 10 cartons of Noodles , 5 units of 25litres vegetable oil and N1 million cash.

Flagging off distribution of the largesse and food items , Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto on Resident Community and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) , Hajiya Maryam D’Mass said the gesture was in tune with the purposeful agenda of the state government to alleviate the economic hardship being experienced in the society.

” This symbolises how much the administration of governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto is committed to the well being and welfare of citizens in the state. We are satisfied with the remarkable gesture that provides succour to resident communities at a crucial moment when it is needed.

She however added” this will go a long way to cushion their basic needs. I am assuring you that it will be sustained for benefit of residents communities in the state.”

D’Mass explained that the APC led government of Dr Aliyu Sokoto prioritises the well-being of citizens in the state noting that the effort was a true reflection of a purposeful course for unity, peace and harmony in the spirit of peaceful co-existence.

” The initiative will be sustained “, She reassured .

The Special Adviser called for sustained support and prayers for the government inorder for more beneficial initiatives to come to the door steps of citizens as dividends of democracy and good governance.

She thanked the state governor and APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for the gesture and opportunity to be on board as Special Adviser on Resident Communities and IDPs.

Meanwhile, the Chairman , Association of Resident Communities in Sokoto, Mr Olubunmi Dare acknowledged with appreciation Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto’s led government concern and support to their members especially at a crucial moment when it was needed.

He reminded members of resident communities in the state to sustain the mark of maintaining peaceful atmosphere and environment for which the state was known.
