2019/2020 Session: Sokoto varsity VC says 2,219 out of 6718 students admitted, matriculated

Vice Chancellor of the Sokoto State University, Professor Muhammad Sani Dangoggo has said that only 2,219 fresh students were admitted out of 6,718 who applied to the institution for various courses for the 2019/2020 academic session.

According to the statistical data base of the institution, 776 students were admitted into the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, 285 into the Faculty of Education and 1,158 into the Faculty of Science.

Dangoggo made the disclosure at the matriculation of the newly admitted students conducted amidst strict compliance with the NCDC Covid-19 pandemic protocols.

While congratulating the students , the Vice Chancellor noted that it was a huge process and success for the new students to be part of the citadel of learning considering the numerical stand of hose who applied into various degree programmes being run by the university adjudged to be one of the most peaceful in country .

“It may interest you to know that 6,718 candidates sought admission into this University in the current session, out of which only 2,219 were lucky to be admitted.”

Dangoggo who pointed out that the category of students is the seventh set admitted and matriculated since the establishment of the University, also added that ” it is a clear indication that the Institution is waxing steadily.”

However, the Vice Chancellor stated that, despite the global challenges posed by the ravaging COVID-19 Pandemic across all sectors of human endeavour, the University recorded some modest achievements while disclosing that arrangements were on for combined 1st, 2nd and 3rd Convocation Ceremony of the University scheduled for March 13.

Also, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Alhaji Bello Suleiman represented by Dr Amanatu Tambuwal, urged the new students to be of good character and conduct through out their academic sessions.

He assured of the university council’s commitment towards ensuring standards and academic excellence across the board .
