2019: Aliyu Sokoto beats 3 others to pick APC’s guber ticket

INCUMBENT Deputy Governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has emerged as the flag bearer and gubernatorial  candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) after beating three others.
‎Those also in the contest with him were: Farouk Malami Yabo, Sen. Abubakar Umar Gada and ‎Abubakar Abdulahi Gumbi.
He emerged tops with 2,282 votes to pick the party’s ticket ‎at the primaries concluded Monday morning.
‎However, Farouk Yabo polled 837 votes to emerge second ahead of Sen. Umar Gada and Abdullahi Gumbi who respectively got 20 and 70 votes.
Declaring the results at the Caliphate Academy, Sokoto venue‎ of the primaries participated by 4,600 delegates drawn from across the 23 LGs of the state, Chairman of the 7-man election Committee, Suleiman Abubakar expressed his joy at the orderliness displayed by the delegates and all party members leading to the smooth, peaceful and transparent conclusion of the all important exercise.
Abubakar also commended all the four aspirants for their display of maturity and understanding through out the conduct of the exercise.
He described the process as a victory to the party, adding that” it is my believe that the party will be more stronger and determined ahead of the 2019 general polls in the state.
” I therefore urged all the aspirants to note that the outcome is a victory for all and  should rally support for the party to take over the affairs of the state.”
In his post emergence remarks, Alhaji Aliyu Sokoto who attributed his success to the collective efforts and support of party members, vowed to reposition the state to regain it’s values and lost glory.
He noted with regrets that the Sokoto was initially an APC ‎state but the governor decided to move to opposition PDP.
” We now determined to reclaim the state and consolidate on the legacies of former Governor Wamakko.
Aliyu Sokoto also assured of advancing the course for galvanising the youths through empowerment schemes, job creation and sustain general infrastructural development across the state.
” I urge all to collectively rally support for the party in demonstration of our resilience and passion for its victory ahead of 2019.
” I must say here that my victory is for all members especially all aspirants and people of the state.
” Together we shall work towards the party victory so that we can redefine the socio economic focus of our state‎ from its current stagnation to a prosperous and transformation hub”, he added.
