2019: Lamido promises mutual religious, ethnic understanding for peaceful co-existence, development

‎THE immediate past Governor of Jigawa state and Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido has unveiled his focus on promoting mutual religious and ethnic understanding among Nigerians of diverse backgrounds if given the mandate as president.

Lamido who told reporters in Sokoto Tuesday said when he became Nigeria’s president, his emphasis would be  to organise a responsive interactive and enlarged gatherings comprising all ethnics and religious groups to facilitate increased understanding and tolerance in order to strengthen the spirit of peaceful co-existence among the diverse religious and cultural backgrounds that made the Nigerian nation.

He underscored the importance of peaceful coexistence toward ensuring peace and stability in the nation, stressing that infrastructural and others developmental projects could only benefit citizens when maximum peace reign.

He former governor and one time Minister also explained that he indicated interest to contest for presidency to better the lives of Nigerians while describing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as suitable for Nigerians based on its antecedents of producing three elected presidents and numerous governors.

According to him,” I am in Sokoto to interact with PDP loyalists and  others”, noting that Sokoto being the seat of the caliphate remain the starting point and  root for any purposeful journey especially politics, even as he said his aspiration would not deter that of Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, who is of Sokoto origin, a friend and brother.m

” We are all struggling for Nigeria’s growth and progress.”

Lamido however,  called on Nigerians to live in peace and promote cultural and religious understanding, stressing that, violence was not the solution to the country’s  problems, rather would have multiplying negative effects occasioned by hatreds.

In the same vein, Lamido addressed PDP supporters at the state party headquarters on where he informed them of his decision to aspire for 2019 presidency.
