The Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission(NPC) Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo says the drive to recruit adequate manpower is necessary for a successful conduct of the 2023 census exercise.
Chiso made the remark Thursday in Sokoto at the formal flag off of the 2023 population and housing census e-recruitment portal which exercise is expected to end by the month of December this year.
The Commissioner who briefed newsmen on the exercise said the task of conducting the 2023 census was a gigantic one that required adequate manpower to be able to achieve accurate and reliable outcome .
” We need to recruit manpower that will carry out the task”, he stressed.
According to the former deputy governor of Sokoto state, ” The need to be fair and transparent in the recruitment process has led the commission to introduce the online E-recruitment portal and train the officers that will superintend over the census recruitment process.”
He explained that the commission will through the online recruitment process request for applicants in the categories of field staff that will be needed to prosecute the next census.
He assured that the recruitment and selection process would be fair ,efficient and transparent while disclosing that in addition to the existing team at the state level , the commission will constitute a Local Government Area Recruitment Team(LRRT).
” The local government recruitment team will work to ensure that prospective applicants in the hard-to- reach areas , difficult terrains and areas with no network coverage have the opportunity to apply to serve as census functionaries and are appropriately accommodated on the recruitment portal”, he explained.
Chiso further pointed out that amaong those to be recruited include: Facilitators,Training Centres Administrators ,Monitoring and Evaluations officers .
Others are: Data quality managers ,data quality assistants ,supervisors and enumerators respectively.
