COP 27 : Climate Change Champion Advocates For Increased Experts Role

Nigerian Climate Change Champion and Environmental Expert, Gloria Kasang Bulus, have urged Federal government to ensure that only qualified environmental personnel are selected to attend the 2022 Conference of Parties COP27 in Egypt.

Gloria Kasang Bulus, the Chief Executive Officer of a Civil Society Organization, “Bridge that Gap Initiative” stated this at a meeting with Journalists and Environmental Rights Activists in Kaduna.

The Climate Change Champion explained that environmental disaster were in the increase globally and people with intellectual knowledge and capacities to deliberate meaningfully are the category of people required to champion the issues both locally and internationally.

She said the Conference of Parties (COP) is an annual meeting of all Countries that are parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to review the implementation of the Convention and other legal instruments take decisions necessary to promote effective implementation.

Earlier, Mr. Zinta Akpoko of Extinction Rebellion explained that the meeting was aimed at reminding governments to act justly on the climate and ecological emergency ,especially as the COP27 commences in Egypt next week.
