As the 2023 general elections draws close with campaigns already taking shape across parties, the structure of opposition PRP and leaders in Sokoto state have fused into the All Progressives Congress in the state.
The defection into APC spare headed by the party ‘s guber candidate Hon. Muhammad Sa’idu Gumburawa also swept it’s three Senatorial candidates, Alhaji Garzali Abdullahi (Sokoto North), Alhaji Bello Holai( Sokoto East) and the Sokoto West candidate.
Also dumping the party for APC were all HoRs , state assembly candidates and it’s row of officials across the state structures respectively.
However, a statement weekend by Bashar Abubakar, Special Assistant Media to Senator Wamakko said Hon. Gumburawa who is leader of the party in the state told Senator Wamakko , leaders of the Sokoto APC that their defection was to join hands to brace and strengthen APC’s roadmap towards ensuring its victory at the polls come 2023.
He noted that the ruling PDP had thrown citizens of the state into regrettable situation and difficulties hence ” we collectively decided to team up with APC inorder to square up for a landslide victory to further rescue the state and return it to it’s past glory bequeath former Governor Wamakko.
While receiving the defectors at a brief ceremony at his Gawon Mama Sokoto residence, Senator Aliyu Wamakko described Gumburawa as a friend and political partner in progress, noting that his defection to APC was timely and unprecedented pointing out that APC was a party for those wishing the state and country development and prosperity.
” APC will closely and harmoniously work with you and your teeming supporters as a family with equal treatment as other members”, Wamakko assured just as its guber candidate , Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto promised to carry along defectors in his drive of renewing the hope of Sokoto people if given the mandate by providing quality healthcare delivery, educational development, boosting trade and investments , agricultural enhancement, civil servants welfare and other developmental aspects.
Senator Wamakko assured Hon. Gumburawa that APC will work with him and all his teeming supporters closely so as to ensure the harmonious working relationship all the time.
Also commentating, APC governorship Candidate,Hon. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, Congratulated Hon. Gumburawa and his allies for joining APC and assured him of equal treatment like all APC family members.
Ahmad Aliyu pledged to carry everybody along if given the mandate to govern the state so as to ensure the provision of quality healthcare delivery, educational development, boosting trade and investments , agricultural enhancement, civil servants welfare and other developmental aspects.
Also in attendance were the Minister for Police Affairs , Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, APC Senators Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba Dambuwa and Engr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir, representative Ahmad Abdullahi Kalambaina, APC deputy gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Idris Muhammad Gobir, APC Zonal Secretary for North/ West, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo and other party Chieftains in the state.
