The National Sports Commission (NSC) has formally launched an Integrity Unit (IU) as part of its ongoing reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s zero-tolerance stance on ethical misconduct in sports.

The development follows the recently concluded Council of Sports meeting held in Calabar in November, where key decisions were taken to revitalize the country’s sports development drive.
According to the NSC, the establishment of the IU is a direct follow-up to the Commission securing approval from the National Council of Sports to “criminalize and institutionalize sanctions against age falsification in Nigerian sports.”
The unit is intended to provide a more structured approach in combating unethical practices across the entire sporting sector.
