Zamani Foundation Urges Women to Build Capacity Ahead of Kaduna Local Government Election

The Zamani Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has called on women in parliament to enhance their skills and support one another ahead of the upcoming local government election in Kaduna State.

This appeal was made during a training session titled “Capacity Building for Women in Parliament Before the Local Government Election” on July 15, 2024.

Mrs. Talatu Zamani Henry, the executive director of the NGO, stated that the objective of the training is to empower women in parliament to strengthen their capabilities and to foster mutual support among women. “The importance of this training lies in encouraging women to build their capacity for political participation. People should vote for them because they are knowledgeable and competent, not just because they are women,” she emphasized.

She also highlighted that the training aims to change the narrative that women are their own worst enemies by promoting solidarity and support, particularly in the political arena.

The event was attended by prominent women in politics, including Hon. Hanatu Usman Bimyat, former INEC State Chairperson, and others who shared their experiences to inspire the participants.
